2 Amazing

  • 1. I mean the whole idea of movies was it was special to go to see – you went to a movie theater to see something that was magical and amazing in a very special location.
  • 2. My mom can't defend herself to the world. She is such an amazing woman with such an open heart. It's a real hard line and I crossed it. I took everyone's life story and assumed it would be a great thing to put on screen. I was being selfish and I feel so horrible about it. I feel so guilty.
  • 3. When you first have a baby your life doesn't change. I mean you have a little less sleep and you drag these cuddly things around you and it's just amazing. But you still get to be you. 3 Anger

  • 1. You've just got to have a sense of respect for the person you have children with. Anger doesn't help anybody. Ultimately you have to say forgiveness is important and honoring what you had together is important. But it's easy to say and harder to do.
  • 2. There is an element of anger among women who've been raped. There's certainly a major element of humiliation. But it really does seem like a medical condition of shock and horror.
  • 3. When I was younger I was terrified to express anger because it would often kick-start a horrible reaction in the men in my life. So I bit my tongue. I was left to painstakingly deal with the aftermath of my avoidance later in life in therapy or through the lyrics of my songs.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.
  • 2. The concept of two people living together for 25 years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep.
  • 3. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I've never owned an Apple product. I like the fact that PCs are open architecture and not locked down like Apple products. I feel that Macs are also unjustifiably overpriced.
  • 2. Form follows profit is the aesthetic principle of our times.
  • 3. Even though I build buildings and I pursue my architecture I pursue it as an artist. I deliberately keep a tiny studio. I don't want to be an architectural firm. I want to remain an artist.
