1 Age

  • 1. Adulthood is the ever-shrinking period between childhood and old age. It is the apparent aim of modern industrial societies to reduce this period to a minimum.
  • 2. Over the years Woodstock got glorified and romanticised and became the event that symbolised Utopia. It's the last page of our collective memory of the age of innocence. Then things turned ugly and would never be the same again.
  • 3. Age puzzles me. I thought it was a quiet time. My seventies were interesting and fairly serene but my eighties are passionate. I grow more intense as I age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I get to travel around the world and meet all of these amazing people and they're singing my songs! And to me that's crazy.
  • 2. I will always be the way I was a couple years ago before anything happened. And that's to my parents' credit my amazing parents who have been around me my whole life and raised me right. I'm very happy with what has happened so far.
  • 3. Everyone at home is so supportive. People recognise me say how proud they are of me. It's awesome to hear it's amazing to know I can touch so many people in a positive way.

3 Anger

  • 1. What I needed most was to love and to be loved eager to be caught. Happily I wrapped those painful bonds around me and sure enough I would be lashed with the red-hot pokers or jealousy by suspicions and fear by burst of anger and quarrels.
  • 2. My hope is that out of all the anger and seeming hostility that we hear in some of today's music will come some sort of coalition that will become politically involved.
  • 3. Anger is seldom without argument but seldom with a good one.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Marriage is a coming together for better or for worse hopefully enduring and intimate to the degree of being sacred.
  • 2. The London games mark the 24th anniversary of my winning two golds and setting the world record in the heptathlon. Someone is going to want it records are made to be broken – it's only a matter of time. I hope mine will outlive me.
  • 3. That there's no more important decision in life than who you marry.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Architecture is a visual art and the buildings speak for themselves.
  • 2. Architecture is the will of an epoch translated into space.
  • 3. Architecture of all the arts is the one which acts the most slowly but the most surely on the soul.
