1 Age

  • 1. I started writing when I had three kids under the age of 4. I used to write every ten minutes I got to sit in front of a computer. Now when I have more time I function the same way: if it's writing time I write.
  • 2. What turns me on about the digital age what excited me personally is that you have closed the gap between dreaming and doing. You see it used to be that if you wanted to make a record of a song you needed a studio and a producer. Now you need a laptop.
  • 3. I've never worried about age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. It's amazing marrying someone who wants nothing to do with Hollywood.
  • 2. I was speaking to Ridley Scott the other day and he makes a film every 18 months. He's amazing really.
  • 3. I've had a very interesting career. I get to do amazing things and work with amazing people and travel and learn languages – things most people don't get the opportunity to do.

3 Anger

  • 1. Violence is a problem we all want to solve. I want to make sure that kids learn to deal with anger by learning how to talk with people to solve problems. Here in the United States Senate I want to make sure we have safe schools safe neighborhoods and good things for kids to do after school!
  • 2. Anger and hate against one we love steels our hearts but contempt or pity leaves us silent and ashamed.
  • 3. I really believe that all of us have a lot of darkness in our souls. Anger rage fear sadness. I don't think that's only reserved for people who have horrible upbringings. I think it really exists and is part of the human condition. I think in the course of your life you figure out ways to deal with that.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.
  • 2. On July 18 we will mark the 12th anniversary of the senseless loss of 85 lives in the bombing of the Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires Argentina.
  • 3. Each year on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth America has the opportunity to reflect on our nation's progress towards the realization of his dream.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Every man's work whether it be literature or music or pictures or architecture or anything else is always a portrait of himself.
  • 2. The building of the architecture of a novel – the craft of it – is something I never tire of.
  • 3. I would have liked maybe to be in architecture or painting something connected to the fine arts.
