  • 1. 'Bombing Afghanistan back into the Stone Age' was quite a favourite headline for some wobbly liberals. The slogan does all the work. But an instant's thought shows that Afghanistan is being if anything bombed out of the Stone Age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. The seated lotus postures are an amazing way to go into meditation or simply just to take a moment to ground oneself.
  • 2. A lot of people fear death because they think that so overwhelming an experience has to be painful but I've seen quite a few deaths and with one exception I've never known anyone to undergo anything like agony. That's amazing when you think about it. I mean how complicated the mechanism is that's being taken apart.

3 Anger

  • 1. Any work of architecture that has with it some discussion some polemic I think is good. It shows that people are interested people are involved.
  • 2. The dialogue of architecture has been centered too long around the idea of truth.
  • 3. Every time a student walks past a really urgent expressive piece of architecture that belongs to his college it can help reassure him that he does have that mind does have that soul.
