The things the writers have me doing on 'Suburgatory' are insane. I think they think it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I would say that playing this character has caused me to think about a lot of things. He's always questioning himself and trying to get back to something he lost touch with and trying to find forgiveness. Everybody struggles with these things to some extent in their life.

1 Age

  • 1. I try to write lyrics so that they won't age which sort of leaves you with the big subjects like death and love and sex and violence.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. I do like to write nasty songs. It's a useful weapon to have and it's cathartic as well because I create art out of anger something positive out of something negative.
  • 2. I'm really busted up over this and I'm very very sorry to those people in the audience the blacks the Hispanics whites – everyone that was there that took the brunt of that anger and hate and rage and how it came through.
  • 3. That's the conundrum of cartoon stripping as opposed to political cartoons. When your anger is the driving force of your drawing hand failure follows. The anger is OK but it has to serve the interests of the heart frankly.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love trust partnership tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.
  • 2. Perhaps a hundred people assembled one evening May 15 1876 at the time when the country was celebrating the hundredth anniversary of its political independence.
  • 3. Next month I will celebrate my 30th anniversary of marriage with my beautiful bride Vicki. Our marriage has been a blessing. I have gained even more respect for the institution over the past 3 decades and will defend it against attack.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I would fix other people's lines if they asked me on occasion. The hard part of writing is the architecture of it getting the story and structuring it. Not the tweaking of lines.
  • 2. The higher the building the lower the morals.
  • 3. I love a lot of things and I'm pretty much obsessive about most things I do whether it be gardening or architecture or music. I'd be an obsessive hairdresser.
