1 Age

  • 1. Utility is the great idol of the age to which all powers must do service and all talents swear allegiance.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. Generally speaking if a human being never shows anger then I think something's wrong. He's not right in the brain.
  • 2. That's the conundrum of cartoon stripping as opposed to political cartoons. When your anger is the driving force of your drawing hand failure follows. The anger is OK but it has to serve the interests of the heart frankly.
  • 3. Something my mum taught me years and years and years ago is life's just too short to carry around a great bucket-load of anger and resentment and bitterness and hatreds and all that sort of stuff.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Experts on romance say for a happy marriage there has to be more than a passionate love. For a lasting union they insist there must be a genuine liking for each other. Which in my book is a good definition for friendship.
  • 2. The chances of a reunion now are less likely. I was thinking of having a 40th anniversary of the band but now they are really another band so it's all a bit weird.
  • 3. I was always very grateful to 'em and am grateful to 'em now. I went back a couple of years ago and did their 20th anniversary show. But the longer I stayed on Hee Haw the worse things got for me musically.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I see architecture not as Gropius did as a moral venture as truth but as invention in the same way that poetry or music or painting is invention.
  • 2. Yet for my part deeply as I am moved by the religious architecture of the Middle Ages I cannot honestly say that I ever felt the slightest emotion in any modern Gothic church.
