I consider myself to have been the bridge between the shotgun and the binoculars in bird watching. Before I came along the primary way to observe birds was to shoot them and stuff them.
We are now heading down a centuries-long path toward increasing the productivity of our natural capital – the resource systems upon which we depend to live – instead of our human capital.
