I know that throughout their history the people of the United States defended their freedom their liberty their justice and their rights – if need be – with their lives. I think their courage is so admirable.
In my old age I have been thinking about this and I have reached the conclusion that those who have physical courage also have moral courage.

The quality that defines us as Americans is the courage to respond to being hit. The courage to root out and destroy the killers. And most importantly the courage to hold on to our values and protect our hard-won freedoms while doing it.
